Charts in Family
Privacy policy
Last updated 4 November 2026
Charts in Family is run by SIA K13 Group, a company registered in Latvia (registration number [K13 registration number], [K13 address]). We are the controller of the personal data described here. Questions or requests: hello@chartsinfamily.com.
What we keep
- Your account: your email address, and your name if you sign in with Google. Before you add an email you are a guest, known only by a random id in a cookie.
- Your family tree: the names, sex, birth dates, birth times, birth places and relationships you enter, for you and for your relatives, and the birth charts we calculate from them.
- Family portraits: the text written for a group you asked a portrait for.
- Purchases: what you bought and when. We never see your card: payments are handled by Stripe.
- Technical data: a session cookie that keeps you signed in, and our server logs (IP address, pages requested) for a short time to keep the service running and secure. Page visits are counted with Umami, which uses no cookies and builds no profile of you.
Why, and on what basis
We use this data to run the service you asked for: keep your tree, calculate charts and readings, write portraits, and give you what you paid for (GDPR article 6(1)(b), a contract with you). We don't sell your data, show ads, or use your tree for anything else.
Your relatives
When you add relatives, you give us their details. Please add only people who are fine with it, or who have passed away. We use their details only to show your tree and readings to you; nobody else can see your tree. A relative who finds themselves in someone's tree can email us and we will remove them.
Who else handles it
- Hetzner Online (Germany): the servers and database, in the EU.
- Stripe: payments. Stripe sells the purchase to you as merchant of record and handles payment details, tax and receipts under its own privacy policy.
- Resend (USA): sends your login emails; it receives your email address.
- Anthropic (USA): writes family portraits when you ask for one. It receives the first names, signs, relationships and findings for that group, not birth dates or places, and doesn't train its models on this data.
- Umami: cookie-free visit counts.
- Open-Meteo: the place search sends what you type into the birth place field from your browser to Open-Meteo's geocoder.
- Google: only if you choose to sign in with Google.
Transfers to the USA rely on the EU standard contractual clauses or the EU–US Data Privacy Framework.
How long
Your tree and account stay until you delete them; deleting removes them, your portraits and your purchases from our side straight away. Guest trees that haven't been opened for 12 months may be deleted. Stripe, as the seller, keeps its own payment and tax records for as long as the law requires.
Your rights
You can see and correct everything in your tree yourself. You can delete your tree or your whole account at any time on the Your data page; it is immediate. You can also ask us for a copy of your data, or object to how we use it, at hello@chartsinfamily.com. If you think we got something wrong, you can complain to the Latvian Data State Inspectorate (dvi.gov.lv) or your local authority.
Children
Accounts are for people aged 16 and over. Parents can add their children to their own tree.
Changes
If we change this policy in a way that matters, we'll say so on the site and email account holders before it applies.
